Commuting to work/school is an inescapable part of life. Love it or hate it, transport expenses are a constant on our monthly budget.

Since it’s unavoidable, it will be in your best interests to use the cards which give you the most miles or rebates for them. In this first instalment of 2-part series, we will explore the cards which give the most miles on transportation expenses.

Understanding the transport cards: EZ-Link & NETS Flashpay

Those of us who rely on bus/MRT will be familiar with EZ-link and NETS Flashpay.

Both cards are CEPAS-compliant and allow you to pay for your bus and MRT rides (as well as host of other stuff) with money pre-loaded in them. These cards can also useful to the drivers as they can be used to pay for Electronic Road Pricing (ERP) and Electronic Parking System (EPS). Many taxis (e.g. Comfort DelGro) also accept them as a form of payment.

Both allow auto top-ups by credit cards and that is where miles can be earned.
